Boris Johnson heads to Washington in bid to save Iran nuke deal

We share the same concerns about Iran.

French President Emmanuel Macron has warned that war could ensue if U.S. President Donald Trump withdraws from the 2015 deal in which Iran agreed to curb its nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief.

Netanyahu said that the deal was "fatally flawed on weaponisation", referring to the military application of Iran's enriched uranium, and that the documents proved it was based on a lie.

"Who would make that deal?" he asked in 2016.

After Netanyahu spoke, Trump repeated his criticism of the deal, suggesting he backed the Israeli leader's remarks.

"If the US exits the JCPOA, it will soon regret it", Rouhani said during a speech in northeast Iran.

Iran has always denied it sought a nuclear weapon, insisting its atomic programme was for civilian purposes.

Iran's president warned Trump on Sunday against pulling out of the deal. The 2015 deal required the lift those sanctions.

"It has weaknesses, certainly, but I am convinced they can be remedied".

Sunday night's warning about Iran's plans to attack, as disseminated on the TV news broadcasts, appeared to constitute an attempt by Israel to show the Iranians that it was aware of their plans and was prepared to respond if they went through with the reprisal.

By all accounts, Iran has complied with the deal.

He has demanded that "flaws" in the deal be fixed by May 12 or face a U.S. withdrawal.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani speaks to the crowd in the city of Sabzevarr, northwestern Iran, on Sunday.

He has complained about the lack of restrictions on Iran's ballistic missile programme and has argued that the "insane" deal does nothing to halt Iran's support for militant groups in the region. It's unclear whether Iran would agree to those terms.

James Carafano, a defense policy expert at the Heritage Foundation who worked on the Trump transition explained, "The president laid out some pretty clear stakes in ground for what he wanted from the Europeans".

Beyond that, there have been tensions between Israel and Iran in Syria, where Tehran is backing Bashar al-Assad's regime.

"We haven't got there yet".

"Israel's amazing intelligence has not provided a smoking gun", said Ehud Barak, a former Israeli prime minister and a frequent Netanyahu critic, told Army Radio.

Darroch's interview came just days before British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson flies to Washington for two days of talks with officials.

He is also expected to discuss North Korea ahead of Mr Trump's planned meeting with leader Kim Jong Un.

Kahl noted that an e-mail from the individual appeared "out of the blue" and "had all sorts of specific information on my wife's volunteer duties at an obscure D.C. elementary school".

The deal saw Iran agree to limit its nuclear activities in return for the easing of sanctions on its economy.
