Arsène Wenger insists he is 'still the right man for the job' at Arsenal

Arsene Wenger watches on during the Premier League game between Everton and Arsenal

It's been a disastrous season for Arsene Wenger and company, as the Gunners have little to no hope of finishing in the Premier League top four.

"But we lacked a bit of sharpness and freshness physically, to make the difference". They play the first leg of their last-16 tie against Milan in Italy on Thursday.

"At the moment, my future is not my main worry", said Wenger after the Brighton defeat.

"On Thursday, we fly to Milan".

In an interview with the Woj Pod podcast, Kroenke explained the need for Arsenal to be honest about the situation they find themselves in. Maybe we are at a time change is coming and surely the board and owner must realise that.

The Arsenal manager is facing increasing pressure to stand down at the end of a dismal season in which his side have slumped to sixth place in the Premier League, 33 points behind the leaders Manchester City.

A run of four consecutive defeats in all competitions - including a pair of humiliating 3-0 losses on the trot to Manchester City - has knocked the daylights out of the Gunners.

"We are talking about shall he quit or not - I can never say that", Henryexplained. Champions League qualification, then, through the league, at least, is now beyond this team.

Elsewhere, Wenger's latest signings Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January have failed to spark and support for the French boss is fading fast.

The report states that PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has always wanted Wenger, even before he appointed Carlo Ancelloti. Naturally, they are playing different.

The fans have grown cold after the club posted woeful performances in the last 6 matches, where they last 5 of them. In the summer he joined from Chelsea, Wojciech Szczesny left the club for Italy to soon become Gianluigi Buffon's successor at Juventus.

Wenger has been the target for much of the fans' anger, which surfaced again in chants for the manager's sacking on Sunday, but Koscielny said blame was shared.

Wenger had said confidence was low at the Emirates Stadium and it showed as Seagulls skipper Lewis Dunk opened the scoring on seven minutes before Glenn Murray doubled the advantage.
