Steve Bannon out as executive chairman at Breitbart News after Trump rebuke

Trump book author Michael Wolff contradicts Steve Bannon's explanation
As Trumpaides called him disloyal and disgraceful, the president branded his former chief strategist on Twitter as "Sloppy Steve", an apparent reference to Bannon's often unkempt appearance, and declared that "he lost his mind" when he was pushed out of the White House last August.
Breitbart and its former employee said they'll work on together on a smooth transition to find his replacement.
Before joining the administration, Bannon was CEO of the Trump campaign, and his appointment as strategist and senior counselor to the president drew massive criticism because of Bannon's history of ultra-conservative views.
Cambridge Analytica is a company that played a role in the Trump campaign's data operations in 2016, and is now under scrutiny by House investigators for its alleged role in helping Russia spread misinformation during the campaign. "I think that this building has not seen his likes since that one", Pence told the Journal, pointing to a Roosevelt portrait behind his desk.
Despite his denials, it was Mr Trump who more or less agreed to allow Wolff - whose reputation for slashing his subjects Mr Trump presumably would have known from his years in New York City - to interview the White House staff for a book. They've stared at Trump daughter Ivanka's polished inanity, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders' plodding optimism, the staid efficiency of chief of staff John Kelly - and wondered, how can they be acting like this is normal? He will travel to Nashville, Tennessee, for the remarks. The presidential reaction was fulminant.
Chatter about Trump's mental fitness for office has intensified in recent months on cable news shows and among Democrats in Congress.
It is what passes for journalism today, and why the complaint about "fake news" keeps gaining traction.
"They have done so for a year, with some debacles (Puerto Rico) but also some genuine successes (the defeat of the Islamic State)".
Speculation over the former White House chief strategist's next career move ramped up following his sudden exit from Breitbart News on Tuesday. In the field of dishonesty, it is he who deserves the Cecil B. DeMille Award for Lifetime Achievement: Obama wiretapped him. It was a sweet-looking exit. First and foremost is complete honesty, i.e., the reporter must identify himself or herself and make it clear that the conversation that is being requested is for publication.
But Wolff's yearlong documentation is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to a president who is mercurial, vindictive and vacillates between unearned overconfidence and overwhelming insecurity. Trump was traveling to Atlanta later Monday for the College Football Playoff National Championship. The report actually suggested the Russians were gathering information that could potentially be used to blackmail Trump, not that the Russians were actively blackmailing Trump at that very minute.
While Mr Trump boasted that he was funding his own presidential campaign - as a way to prove he was not beholden to special interests - the truth is that his run for the White House was accelerated by the Mercer family's riches.
Since then, Bannon has been greatly isolated from his political allies and conservative donors, including billionaire Rebekah Mercer and her father Robert Mercer.
"Fire and Fury" may have dominated the US news cycle but the real story is that the country's economic data remains solid. A person familiar with the matter told CNN that Trump viewed the statement as "too little and too late".
And, in the "Best Made-up" category, I nominate Trump's claim Thursday that Wolff had "zero access to the White House".

But critics said the government's approach, and the new immigration report, appeared to be aimed primarily at keeping out Muslims. Hours after the story broke on Thursday, White House spokesperson Raj Shah did not deny the " shithole " remark.
Bannon a 'nightmare' for Trump, GOP — Prediction
Did Wolff and Trump talk? "It's not from the United States government; it's from the President's personal attorney". I absolutely spoke to the president. "It is a beehive of stings that Donald Trump is taking from Wolff here ".
