Not everything in Trump book true — Michael Wolff admits

Trump hits back at mental fitness accusations, says 'greatest assets' are stability, smarts

Trump, mocking questions on his mental state, tweets he is a 'stable genius'

But they were also out of stock, with Amazon advising that shipment might take two to four weeks.

His Press Secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, dismissed the book as being "complete fantasy and full of tabloid gossip", from "an author no one had ever heard of before".

Publisher Henry & Holt Company had planned a Jan. 9 release. He has been a media critic and columnist for USA Today, The Hollywood Reporter, New York Magazine and Vanity Fair.

"Congratulations, sir! This dignified, statesman-like tweet is the perfect way to counter the book's narrative that you're an impulsive, childish dimwit".

"The Mercer Family recently dumped the leaker known as Sloppy Steve Bannon".

CORRECTION: Due to an editing error, an earlier version of this article said that Steve Bannon co-founded Breitbart News.

Bannon was prominently featured in the book, which was available for purchase on Friday.

"I absolutely spoke to the president".

"I think what's going to happen is Bob Mueller is going to reveal more data points and begin to connect them", he continued.

Wolff said he spoke to Mr Trump after his inauguration and "spent about three hours with the President over the course of the campaign in the White House, so my window into Donald Trump is pretty significant".

The story extensively quotes Trump's former ally and chief strategist Stephen Bannon, who accuses the president's eldest son Don Jr. of "treasonous" contacts with a Kremlin-linked lawyer, and characterizes the president's daughter Ivanka as "dumb as a brick". Trump wrote in the first tweet.

But the President did concede that he did a "quick interview with him a long time ago".

"They all say he is like a child", he said.

For starters, the president hasn't held a single public event since returning to the White House after the Christmas/New Year's break.

NBC News has not confirmed much of the book.

Contrary to White House statements, Wolff claims that he had unhindered access to the White House and that his book is based on more than 200 interviews.

Tony Blair has dismissed as a "complete invention" a claim that he warned Donald Trump's advisers UK intelligence may have spied on him during the presidential election campaign. "Too bad!" Trump tweeted.

But Wolff is standing by his book, telling the Today show Friday morning that he has recordings, notes, and "I am comfortable with everything that is in this book".

Instead, he says, Bannon will hurt Republican candidates.

It already has cost him a key backer.
