The Republicans and the #Democrats couldn't reach an agreement on the issue of where the immigrant funding should go - should it go to helping the "dreamer" immigrants to settle in America (the Democrats' answer) or should it go to bolstering border patrol to ensure that immigrants can't get into America (the Republicans' answer)? The final vote stood at 81-18.

The bottom line is Democrats say they will trust Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to address immigration in the next three weeks.

But leader of the Democrats in the upper house Chuck Schumer criticised Donald Trump for failing to help in striking the deal and said he had not spoken to him since the shutdown began on Friday.

McConnell had previously assured Republican colleague Jeff Flake of Arizona that he'd bring a bipartisan DACA bill to the floor in January.

One guarantee is offered by the bill.

However, this move is already being criticized by Democrats and Liberals.

Still, we're pleased that senior senators from both parties have found a way to work together to reopen the government and plot a path forward for the important work of immigration reform.

Democrats lined up to vote on the deal, but the progressive wing is not happy about the bill, fearing they did not get enough assurances that the Dreamer issue will be saved. In a shutdown, services the government considers "nonessential" are put on hold, and the thousands of government employees who are responsible for these nonessential services are furloughed. "I think he's got a good understanding of what will sell, and every time we have a proposal it's only yanked back by staff members".

The Senate has voted to advance the bill to fund the government.

"We were constantly given the false hope from [Schumer's] staff and Sen".

The Bill, H.R. 195, sets the clock for a showdown between Republicans and Democrats over immigration, one that could potentially end in another stand-off over spending. The Republican president took a new swipe at Democrats as he celebrated the Senate's pact. I think what - people are wondering why the president wasn't more involved in the conversation. The recommencement of government is taking place after the Senate Democrats conceded their demands for a vote on legislation to protect Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival, or DACA, recipients, compromising on their previous stipulations.

Aca planned to participate in a Tuesday afternoon protest - first announced only 24 hours earlier - in Brooklyn hosted by eight progressive organizations outside Schumer's apartment. Will the shutdown of the shutdown be shutdown February 8th?
