President criticised for attacking FBI — Russia-Trump

Michael Flynn the former US national security advisor center arrives at the U.S. Courthouse in Washington D.C

As Ian Millhiser of Think Progress observes, "a vetted statement drafted by counsel that admits to a crime is much more incriminating than a tweet tossed off by a suspect with a well-known reputation for saying things that aren't true".
Sharman added that "to have value for the pleading defendant, his or her cooperation needs to be robust - no half-measures [on] anything".
President Donald Trump tweeted over the weekend that he fired Michael Flynn, his first national security adviser, because he lied to the FBI and to Vice President Mike Pence, sending the president's critics and the media into overdrive about obstruction of justice. He has pled guilty to those lies. "There was nothing to hide!" He has publicly attacked Special Counsel Robert Mueller and threatened, publicly and privately, to fire him. The reason? Three words: "and the FBI".
Trump pointedly ignored questions about exactly when he learned that Flynn had lied to FBI agents in January about conversations Flynn had with then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
"Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws governing the handling of classified information, there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information", Comey said back in July 2016. He is a good guy. President Trump does not follow this blueprint.
No one has ever been prosecuted under the Logan Act, though at least two people appear to have been indicted under the act. Trump believes he commands the government with the same totality he commands his business. Another said Comey's firing and the subsequent comments from the White House are attacks that won't soon be forgotten.
The revelation of Strzok's biased texts is significant because of his central role in both the Russia investigation and the Clinton email probe.
Second, this might not help. Below are four of them.
One of Trump's attorneys, John Dowd, told CNN on Sunday that he was responsible for crafting the tweet. Why would you write the tweet then, Dowd?
However, an earlier draft of Comey's remarks reveals that he felt Clinton's actions were a lot more serious than he would later publicly state. And after Nixon's resignation, the 11 Republicans who voted against the first article of impeachment acknowledged that, in light of subsequent revelations, they believed that Nixon had committed obstruction. This tweet made a highly precarious situation far, far worse. In particular, Flynn seems to have been receiving direction from Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner. Just stop tweeting about pending cases and investigations.
Trump did not suggest he was considering that approach.
Grassley then asked for the electronic "metadata", which would include "who created the original drafts, who made the edits to the draft statement, and when those edits were made".
It's also true that the president as the head of the executive branch and therefore head of the the Justice Department, has the constitutional authority to decide who gets prosecuted and which staff he can terminate. He was a 24-day wonder who barely outlasted Anthony Scaramucci as a White House employee. Now, the personal lawyer for U.S. President Donald Trump is trying a new defence, one that legal experts say understates just how exposed Trump is to legal jeopardy.
It is death by tweet, and it is hard to watch.
"My take is that the idea that Dowd should be disbarred is nonsense". Burnside repeatedly had trouble with bridges in battles. To re-quote Howard Baker's famous question about the Watergate break-in and Richard Nixon's involvement in the cover up: "What did the president know and when did he know it?" "So we are very happy". It has never happened before, and no court has definitively ruled on the issue.
