Trump, Russia And Beyond: 3 Tough Questions As FBI Director Heads To Congress
When asked if there is "anything prohibiting you from showing this committee what was presented to the FISA court?" It appears to me that Director Wray was raising the "Independent Inspector General" as a foil against Congress' oversight power.
Reason No. 2 is meta: to save the Republican Party as Ryan and McConnell know it. Here's what I said in February: "Becoming the party of impeachment at a time when impeachment is popular transforms crisis into opportunity, allowing Republicans to cleanse their Trump-era sins (trying to repeal the increasingly well-received Obamacare, paying for the Great Wall of Mexico with deficit spending, etc.) and seize the moral high ground in one swoop". The president has renewed his public attack on the FBI, declaring on Twitter that its reputation is, quote, "in tatters, worst in history". It was revealed this week that Strzok was dismissed this summer from Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe into alleged collaboration between Trump and Russia for sending "anti-Trump text messages". Peter Strzok, the guy who ran the FBI's Clinton investigation, did all the interviews... "Your job requires you to have the courage in these circumstances to stand up to the president".
As to the reputation of the FBI, it's only as good as its last picture.
The drafting process was a team effort, CNN is told, with a handful of people reviewing the language as edits were made, according to another US official familiar with the matter.
Electronic records show Strzok changed Comey's earlier draft language describing Clinton's actions as "grossly negligent" to "extremely careless", sources said. These entities are not free to do as they wish.
However, the committee's top Democrat, Rep. Jerrold Nadler of New York, pressed the FBI director about Trump's tweets attacking the bureau's reputation as being in "tatters".
Wray, however, repeatedly deflected questions about whether Trump's decision would put him in legal jeopardy.
In his opening statements, Wray said there was "no finer institution than the FBI" without speaking directly to Trump's criticism. "We do hard work for a living", Wray said, not mentioning the President specifically.
Multiple Democratic lawmakers also questioned Wray about a recent FBI report about so-called black identity extremists.
Back in October, following reports on the FBI's part in uncovering evidence in the sale of Uranium One to Russian energy giant Rosatom, thereby transferring 20 percent of U.S. uranium stocks to the Russians, the editorial board said Mueller should resign.
"We look forward to hearing from Director Wray on the many issues facing the FBI, concerns about the politicization of the Bureau, and on answers to the many questions Members have regarding issues before the FBI", Goodlatte added.
"[The report] sends a chill to activists around the country", Bass said.
So what if the FBI is full of Republicans, or if Mueller himself is a Republican of unimpeachable law-enforcement credentials, or if his team of investigators and prosecutors includes both Republicans and Democrats?
The most prominent non-Russia related topic at the hearing was federal surveillance.
Man City midfielder David Silva a doubt for derby with Man Utd
Plus it can't have been easy for Raheem with people saying he could be a makeweight in City's attempt to sign Alexis Sanchez . The pass, like a pitching wedge on the golf course, was inevitably perfect. "[Silva] felt uncomfortable after his goal".
Trump travel ban can be enforced, says US Supreme Court
Department of State issued guidance in September that the ban would not affect people already in the country on a valid visa. The court's order said the appeals courts should decide the cases "with appropriate dispatch".
Coutinho after rout: 'Special' to be captain
Ragnar Klavan also comes in to the back four alongside Dejan Lovren while Alberto Moreno replaces Andrew Robertson at left-back. That should hopefully bode well for when the Champions League restarts in its knockout format in February.
Chelsea ready for Barca — Cesc
Teams from the same country cannot play each other in the last 16, which limits who Chelsea can play in first knockout stage. However, Sam Allardyce will face competition from Chelsea as well as Liverpool to sign the Gabon international.
Al Franken should quit for good of the country — Doug Jones
But, these same voters must now come to terms with the reality of his predatory behavior. "Judge Moore has been through the fire". It is noteworthy that the woman who accused Moore of sexually assaulting her when she was 14 voted for Republican Donald Trump .
Barcelona-Sporting |Confirmed lineups — Ucl live
Barcelona need just one point out of this match to make sure that they win the group, which is a very comfortable place to be in. You have to feel sorry for him - if he didn't tuck it away from Denis Suarez's cross, Alcacer certainly would have.

David Luiz missed Chelsea training ahead of our clash with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday evening. And former Chelsea star Lampard was clearly not too impressed by Bakayoko's defending for the Blues during the game.
