Here's Why Democrats Won Big in Virginia

Voters Talk Taxes, Trump in Virginia, New Jersey Races
Virginia demonstrates where this country is going and, for the Republican Party and Donald Trump, that's not good news. The 180,000 absentee ballots returned as of Sunday were 60,000 more than all absentee votes cast in the 2013 gubernatorial election.
After a series of losses in red-state special elections this year, Democrats finally had the night they needed to prove that the much-heralded "Trump resistance" movement can be an electoral force. Democrats had started the day holding just thirty-four of the hundred seats in the state's House of Delegates, but by the end of the evening, with some absentee ballots still to be counted and recounted, the Party seemed likely to win between forty-nine and fifty-one seats, a result that, a few hours earlier, no one in Virginia politics had imagined.
Further, the Democrats still lack a coherent message. They didn't win the statehouse. The main question going forward is whether they will be able to hold out in areas where they have recently made unexpected gains, of which neither Virginia nor New Jersey were examples. She ultimately voted for Northam.
Given the Virginia/New Jersey rejection of hate, Alabama is now in play. "If that pattern repeats itself in California, suburban Republicans should be concerned". In New Jersey, front-running Democrat Phil Murphy overcame Republican Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno to succeed unpopular GOP Gov. Chris Christie.
After Democrats swept state-level elections on Tuesday night to win decisive victories from coast to coast, Fox News appeared to seek bliss in ignorance. Northam said he wants a tax overhaul that targets low-income Virginians, supports greater gun restrictions and abortion rights. The New Jersey native also made himself the candidate of Confederate monuments - proving they're actually about hate, or at least political division, and not heritage. Business Insider's Josh Barro summarized this reasoning, arguing: "You can beat the gerrymander without redrawing the map if you win at politics".
And many political analysts caution against drawing overly broad conclusions about Tuesday's election results.
Both parties are seeking momentum ahead of next year's midterm elections.
Devontae A. Freeland '19, a member of the Harvard Democrats member, adding that he saw an increase in student involvement in the elections this year. "There's nobody sitting back on their haunches", he said. Let's be clear Trump, Steve Bannon and the GOP went all in there - and not just with their money but with Trump's bigoted playbook.
Virginia Governor-elect Ralph Northam greets supporters during an election night rally on Tuesday in Fairfax. Those districts were designed to entrench Republicans in power. In suburban Richmond, a thirty-two-year-old civics teacher won a seat that Democrats had only contested once since 1997.
It was hardly a "wave election". Democrats on Tuesday came close to taking a majority in the state House of Delegates, though final results won't be known until later this week. He speaks with authority and deep knowledge when he says, "Democrats are exceptionally energized".
As John Avlon, editor of the Daily Beast put it on CNN on Nov. 8, "Opposition motivates people more than proposition".
Early voter numbers were up in Virginia. David Toscano of Charlottesville said Wednesday.

It's worth noting that not every already-released game that's been flagged for Xbox One X enhancements will be ready for launch. But how much better do all those impressive-sounding numbers make your games? I'm a professional, it says, I'm all business.
Samsung mocks iPhones (and iPhone fans) in new ad
Apple's iPhone X notch has been widely criticized by tech pundits, who have called the design "odd" and "ridiculous". The notch is a half-inch intrusion into the iPhone X's "edge-to-edge" screen housing the smartphone's sensors.
