When a shooter began firing Sunday night at concertgoers at the Route 91 Festival, Las Vegas police could see the gunfire coming from the Mandalay Bay Hotel, but they weren't sure of his exact location.
The shooter was reportedly found dead in his room on the 32nd floor of his hotel room where he launched the attack, the sheriff said.
House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., who was gravely wounded by the gunman who attacked Republicans at the baseball practice in June, called the Las Vegas attack an "act of pure evil", and thanked those who responded and aided the victims.
