The coach's attorney, Steve Spence, told the Courier-Journal that Louisville has "effectively fired" Pitino.

Announcing Pitino's reduced status Tuesday, Postel also said that one athlete on the basketball team won't be allowed to practice or play with the team - an apparent reference to Bowen.

In the complaint, Augustine is said to have stated about another player that "he expected Company-1 to fund at least a portion of future payments to Player-11 and/or his family because ..."

It's important to note that Pitino has yet to be charged with any crime. It is believed that the unnamed player, who is listed as "Player 10" in the official documents, is Brian Bowen.

"I'm more angry than embarrassed", Postel said.


In what is the most shocking development in an incredibly stunning story, Rick Pitino is reportedly the unidentified Coach 2 in the FBI's affidavit.

University of Louisville men's basketball coach Rick Pitino and Athletics Director Tom Jurich have been put on administrative leave, interim president Gregory Postel said Wednesday amid a federal investigation into corruption in college basketball.

News outlets across the country reported that Pitino had been fired.

The scandal that rocked college basketball Tuesday didn't implicate any programs or head coaches by name.

This is all coming after Pitino released a second statement denying any knowledge of any happenings.


He says they will continue to monitor the issue, and take appropriate actions if necessary.

According to CBS News, "investigators allege Pitino, identified in court filings as 'Coach-2, ' spoke with an adidas executive on the phone three times in what may have been an attempt to get Bowen's family additional money".

Four NCAA basketball coaches and an Adidas manager are among 10 people that the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested inconnection with a corruption probe.

Pitino and his program already were not in the good graces of the NCAA.

Padgett began his playing career at Kansas before transferring to Louisville after the 2003-04 season.


Decisions regarding coaches named during the investigation will be made by the interim athletic director.
