It's been 20 years since the juggernaut that is Titanic launched its stars, Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, into the celebrity stratosphere, while earning a Best Actress Oscar nomination for Winslet. As a means of exploring the world, which has an atmosphere toxic to humans, people inhabit genetically-engineered Na'vi bodies, called avatars, they inhabit and control with their brains from special pods.

Kate Winslet is working with the director who helped make her a household name once again.

She joins original cast members Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang, who are all on board for the sequel. Four Avatar sequels are scheduled, though it's unknown how numerous movies Winslet will appear in.

About the progress of the first sequel, Cameron began filming the first of the four Fox movies last week in California and Cameron will be producing these sequels with Jon Landau! "The lovely thing about Titanic for me now, my children and their friends... their friends say, 'Oh I love the bit in Titanic when you did...'"

The first part ofAvatar was released in 2009. We really never did.

Deadline reports that Cameron offered Winslet the role of Ronal, a new character whose exact nature remains unspecified. A little three-year break is then in the schedule, before Avatar 4 arrives in theaters on December 20, 2024.

Kate Winslet will next be seen in The Mountain Between Us, which opens in the United Kingdom and the US this coming weekend.
