Jacksonville Jaguars at Pittsburgh Steelers - 10/8/17 NFL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Jaguars will win if: They can outrun Pittsburgh and force a mistake or two from Big Ben. But like every other season, the team surprises you and loses the one game on the schedule that you'd imagine to be the most guaranteed victory.

That last number is significant, and a potential hurdle to clear if the passing game is to take flight.

This Sunday, the Jags are traveling to Heinz Field to face a Pittsburgh Steelers side who're looking to find their groove.

The Steelers finally gave their bellcow back, Le'Veon Bell, a workload commensurate with his ability in last week's 26-9 rout of the Baltimore Ravens - and Bell broke out in a big way, racking up 186 total yards and a pair of touchdowns.

THE RUST IS OFF-Le'Veon Bell, shown here in a September 17 game against Minnesota, is back to his old form after rushing for 144 yards in the 26-9 win over Baltimore, Oct. 1. He shredded Baltimore for 144 yards on the ground that included two scores, and added another 42 receiving yards.

A week ago, Steelers receiver Antonio Brown had his lowest yardage output of the season, catching four passes on nine targets for 34 yards. Last week the Steelers have seven penalties in the first half and only one in the second half.

On offense, look for the Steelers to pound away on the Jaguars defense with a healthy dose of the running game. I thought Bortles played well in London and followed it up with a good week of practice before NY. The Jaguars beat the Steelers 31-29 in a 2008 AFC wild-card game in Mike Tomlin's second season as coach. He has a career passer rating of 79.7 and has consistently struggled with mechanical issues throughout his tenure.

Houston will be happy to oblige this weekend; the Texans have produced a sack on 8.3 percent of opponent dropbacks so far this season, good for seventh in the league.

The Jaguars will win if: They stop the run.

- Jacksonville quarterback Blake Bortles has only been sacked three times in four games in 2017.

Here is my "dark horse" QB of the week. When it comes to Pittsburgh it is less about the volume of them and more about the timing. And the encouraging part is, the Jaguars have created more cherished memories in Pittsburgh than any other National Football League city. With all the weapons at his disposal, Roethlisberger is a threat to go off any week.

Following Brian's lead, that's the first thing I noticed as well: the Jags have one of the "top" pass defenses because teams gameplan to run on them.

This is one of my favorite lines of the week.

CP: For the Steelers, I think it will come in waves. The Steelers are tough at home, so I am giving them the edge here. They looked like a team with a dominant defense carrying a mediocre offense in week 1. Create turnovers and keep the offense on the field to prevent the Jaguars from having any scoring opportunities. Big Ben and the offense will put up a lot of points, and the defense will completely stifle the Jacksonville offense.
