The New York Times reported that Weinstein has been accused of sexual harassment and/or unwanted physical contact by numerous people who worked with him over the past three decades or so.

Bloom: "Yes. You know, I agree".

"Mr. Weinstein and his lawyer have confirmed the essential points of the story", the spokesperson added.

Following the Times' report Thursday, Weinstein's attorney, Lisa Bloom, said in a statement that "he denies numerous accusations as patently false".

Marc Lasry, Dirk Ziff and Tim Sarnoff have all resigned from The Weinstein Company's board following the New York Times report where the allegations were published.

After an initial statement in which Weinstein apologised for his behaviour, his attorney Charles J Harder subsequently put out a statement saying the newspaper's story was defamatory because it relied on "mostly hearsay accounts and a faulty report".

'I believe you' Oscar-winner Brie Larson responded to the allegations by saying she stood "with the courageous survivors of sexual assault and harassment... as always".

Musician and potential GOP Senate candidate Kid Rock took a strong stand Friday in defense of the women who have accused Hollywood titan Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct.

Shortly after explaining that "Harvey has authorized me to be very forthright because he is ashamed of his behavior", Bloom told Stephanopoulos some of what she's teaching Weinstein in response to his request that she "tutor" him.

Weinstein, who is co-chairman of the Weinstein Company, announced Friday that he is taking an indefinite leave of absence immediately.

According to the report, the Oscar-winning producer and Miramax co-founder invited several actors and female employees to various hotels for business meetings but behaved inappropriately when they arrived.

Trade publication Variety said the board of directors of the Weinstein Company would meet by yesterday evening to decide whether he would helm the company.
