Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Sammy Watkins (12) scores a touchdown against the San Francisco 49ers during the second half of an NFL football game in Santa Clara, Calif., Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017.

As week three is almost upon us all, let's dive into the first game of the week and look at the fantasy football aspect of Thursday night's tilt.

The Rams defense, which allowed 229 rushing yards in last week's loss to Washington, struggled again Thursday and could not stop a 49ers offense that had not scored a touchdown prior to Thursday. The defensive line is the strength of San Francisco's defense, and it has a chance to make life hard for Todd Gurley, who has failed to rush for even 90 yards in either of the Rams' first two games. Meanwhile, the 49ers lost their two opening games, but showed promise in taking Seattle to the brink. Consider if the Rams are able to get from four wins to 8-8 in McVay's first season - that would still represent a higher floor than any of the five years with Fisher.

The San Francisco 49ers have not been good since moving into Levi's Stadium three years ago. If the 49ers were to put up 24 points after totaling just 12 in the first two weeks, it wouldn't be all that surprising.

Including a brilliant first-down catch on third-and-18, Garcon continually proved himself to be a reliable target for Brian Hoyer on Thursday night. How in the world were they supposed to compete with veteran teams surrounding quarterbacks Cam Newton and Russell Wilson when they hardly knew the plays and the guys calling them? Only Andy Dalton and DeShone Kizer have worse passer ratings through two games. Safety Jaquiski Tartt and linebacker Brock Coyle both sustained head injuries in the third quarter and were ultimately diagnosed with concussions, the 49ers announced.

LA got the ball back with enough time to tie the game. Hyde's 1-yard touchdown cut the lead down to two points. He matched that total in the first half alone with scores of three, seven and two yards.

The 49ers had one last opportunity when kicker Robbie Gould, who had missed what turned out to be a critical extra point earlier in the game, struck a ideal onside kick that was recovered by Raheem Mostert, who lost a first-quarter fumble. I am one of those Niner fans, and I know my team is going to come through for me and produce a score Thursday, maybe even go insane and get two. The Rams are going to want to put on a better national prime time game performance.

In three games this season, Gurley has established himself as a viable pass-catcher as well as a runner. The 49ers will wear black and the Rams will have on some bright colors similar to what MI wore in a recent game.

Ever since beating Chicago on December 6, 2015, the 49ers have been unable to beat any other team - except for the Rams.

Thursday Night Football games are rarely good, and such was the case in Week 3. But that hasn't done anything to sway the Sports Interaction betting public, which is a whopping 91 percent behind the Rams -2.5 as of Tuesday morning. Both are expected to play on Thursday, but their injuries can not be taken lightly. Get your FREE $5 chip for signing up today.
