Rajanth Singh downplays Yashwant Sinha's criticism about economic situation

Economy on a downward spiral many in BJP know it but are scared to say it Yashwant Sinha

Yashwant Sinha

Home Minister Rajnath Singh rejected senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha's critique on Indian economic policies.

"It is like applying band aid to several broken limbs". "The wings have fallen off our plane", Gandhi tweeted. Plz fasten your seat belts & take brace position.

And in 2015, along with fellow sidelined senior BJP leaders LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, Sinha issued a statement blaming the party's Bihar loss on its top leadership, a reference to Modi and BJP President Amit Shah.

Sinha explained as to how multiple portfolios for Jaitley has affected the economy. This is not my view.

They said it for four quarters, their bluff was caught.

Earlier today, Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Yashwant Sinha's son Jayant Sinha had countered his father's criticism that the slowdown in GDP growth rate was because of demonetisation and the recently-introduced Goods and Services Tax (GST).

"There is an atmosphere of fear..."

Speaking to ANI on Thursday, Yashwant said that there has been a gradual decline in the Indian economic system. "He has shown the mirror on the economic condition of India and has hit the nail right on the head", the veteran actor-turned-politician said in a tweet.

He said the July-September quarter will also be bad and the growth will be less than 6 per cent and "that is bad news".

Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's as a leader, Piyush Goyal said that the whole country and the world has seen, under the decisive leadership of PM Modi, India has become world's fastest growing economy for three years in a row. "I don't think it's technical, I think it's structural". Shourie, despite his earlier support for Modi, has spent the last few years attacking the government, calling it "Congress plus cow". We were asked to shut up, we shall not shut up. We were the first to speak up, we did not shut up and we shall not shut up...

At its national executive held on Monday, the BJP, under criticism from the Opposition on the slowdown and lack of jobs, tried to allay fears by asserting that the government's steps would pave way for brighter days before 2019.

Targeting the Government over high oil prices, Chidambaram accused it of "looting" the people.

"Hope, wish & pray that all those people who matter in our party ponder over what has been said by Mr. Yashwant Sinha and remedial action is taken soon, sooner the better".

The Congress leader, however, said the Centre was collectively responsible for the mess and added that the Prime Minister must bear the responsibility for the failures of his government.

"There was a constant downfall in the economy, but I did not speak. We have to see what punishment will be meted out to him" the editorial in Saamna said.

Is he trying to criticise him indirectly, because most know that FM Jaitley hardly had a say in the biggest "reforms" and "surgical strikes on black money" that turned out to be not just complete duds, but also actually near-fatal for the economy?

Replying to a media query over Mr. Sinha's article, Mr. Singh said the India has established its credibility in the global arena at economic fronts. It (economy) may take some amount of time to absorb these changes but this will pass. Challenges come but we will stay the course.
