President Moon stress bipartisan effort to deal with North Korean nuclear issue

North Korea's Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho said Trump had “declared war” on his country by tweeting that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un “won’t be around much longer.”

Chung Eui-young made the remarks on Wednesday during President Moon Jae-in's meeting with the leaders of major parties at the presidential office, said Park Wan-joo, the spokesman of the ruling Democratic Party.

For decades the universal assumption has been that the U.S. would come to South Korea's rescue if the country is attacked by the North - the events of 1950, and the arrival of USA troops into the Korean war on the side of the South, confirmed that these expectations were not unfounded.

Tensions on the Korean peninsula have escalated in recent weeks as North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump exchanged threats and insults over the North's nuclear and missile development programme.

"When the South has wartime operation control, the North will fear us more, and our armed forces will be trusted more", he said.

U.S. Senator Steve Daines returns from a security and trade mission overseas with updates on North Korea's nuclear threat and expanding markets for Montana products.

While Taiwan is not a member of the United Nations, cabinet spokesman Hsu Kuo-yung said that as a member of the global community, Taiwan would comply with the UN sanctions.

The Seoul government has also proposed the resumption of military talks and Red Cross dialogue with the North to discuss humanitarian issues and ways to ease tension along the inter-Korean border, including the reunions of families separated by the two countries' division.

The ministry had issued similar rules after a previous set of United Nations sanctions in August. The anniversary marks the day when the South Korean Army crossed the 38 parallel on October 1 in 1950, during the Korean War. Pyongyang continues to remain silent in response to the offers. Moon said that the solution for the crisis on the Korean Peninsula must consist of "resolving the strategic distrust between the U.S. and North Korea".

The U.S. has "four or five" ways to resolve the crisis with North Korea, according to National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster.

What makes it even more interesting is that the Korean written on the flyer uses the phrase 'Joseonbando (조선반도)' to refer to the Korean peninsula.

According to South Korean intelligence, however, which national lawmakers were briefed about Tuesday, the North is shifting deployments to the east of the country, along the route that the US jets flew. The nature of the assets was not specified.

This year's event took place early, as Koreans are enjoying Chuseok harvest holidays next week.

The Korea Massive Punishment and Retaliation (KMPR) is part of a three-axis system which also includes the Kill Chain pre-emptive strike program and the Korea Air and Missile Defense (KAMD).

China opposes the deployment of THAAD because it believes its powerful radar could be used to look inside its territory.

North Korea has had a seemingly ongoing interest in bitcoin as a way to bypass sanctions imposed against it, with a report in July claiming that alongside developing nuclear weapons, the country was also mining bitcoin.
