Playboy founder Hugh Hefner dies at 91

Playboy founder Hugh Hefnerdied peacefully in his home aged 91 earlier today, but his wife Crystal Harris, 30, apparently won't be inheriting much of his huge fortune or mansion. Hefner died on Wednesday at the Playboy Mansion in the Holmby Hills neighborhood of West Los Angeles, so reports trade paper Variety.
Hefner, known to nearly everyone as "Hef", is survived by his wife, Crystal, and four grown children: Christie, who was chief executive of Playboy Enterprises for more than 20 years; David; Marston; and Cooper. The larger Playboy brand will undoubtedly outlive its founder, as its grown in influence in other countries even as it has faded a bit from the public eye in the U.S.
The sad news of Hugh Hefner's passing mightn't be such a surprise, given the bloke was in his nineties, but it's time like these that you tend to reflect on what a guy like Hefner achieved in life.
The magazine is published in more than 20 nations around the world and products featuring the company's trademarks drive more than $1 billion in sales annually, according to the company.
Hefner gave up the reins of running Playboy Enterprises in 1982 to his daughter.
Miriam Gonzalez, who graced the magazine in 2001, thanked Hefner and credited him with changing her life.
Mr Hefner the man and Playboy the brand were inseparable.
Prior to their wedding in 1949, though, Millie admitted to having an affair while Hefner was away in the Army. However, Hefner and Conrad ended up separating in 1998 and she moved into a home right next door to the Playboy Mansion.
Hefner passed away at 91 after a lifetime in the limelight.
