Much before any of their competitors started off, Amazon had the Amazon Echo. Other finishes include wood grains and a swanky X-ray look.

The Echo Plus looks a great deal like the original Echo - tall, slender, plastic shell - which is an interesting choice given that it just updated the Echo's look with interchangeable covers to better match users' interiors. This is a new addition to Alexa in the United Kingdom that's been in the U.S. for some time now. They follow in the lines of Libratone speakers, although not quite as a luxurious, but there's also a healthy dose of Google Home thrown in too. There's a cute chirping sound when you adjust the volume with the buttons up top.

The Amazon Echo was the first Alexa powered device released by the retail giant in 2014. In fact, the Echo Plus will come with a Philips Hue White bulb.

It comes with a 2.5-inch display that shows information like Time, Weather, and other notifications. It gets improved sound with support for Dolby audio and a boosted low end thanks to a dedicated bass driver. Instead of the US$170 price tag for the original Echo, the second generation model costs $99.99.

The Spot includes a built-in speaker, but can connect to external speakers through Bluetooth or a 3.5mm stereo cable. It then prompted Limp to name the new devices. The integration's full Alexa experience will also allow drivers to use Alexa skills from brands like Starbucks and NPR, to order coffee or listen to podcasts. It can be preordered today and will ship in December. The design of the Spot is one of the best we've seen from Amazon, though.

The Amazon Echo differs from the Echo Plus in a number of ways.


This is the also most affordable way as there is no need for separate connection for making calls.

The Echo Plus is the same size as the original Echo and adds in a ZigBee-compatible smart home hub.

You can also add automated triggers, like turning on your coffee machine and starting a flash briefing at 6 in the morning. As an owner of the Echo, Dot, & Tap myself, these new devices and massive support for other products and services put the Amazon Echo in a league of their own.
