Samsung will stick with the same rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy S9, due out early next year.
As The Investor notes, Samsung's mobile division chief Koh Dong-Jin said at a media event last month that the Galaxy S8 had outsold the Galaxy S7 by 15% in the same three-month period after launch. Bringing the new Infinity Display technology 6.3-inch screen and nearly bezel-less edge-to-edge screen, the Note 8 screen looks mammoth! The upcoming smartphone will also come with a dual rear camera setup and will embed the essential fingerprint along with a heart rate scanner. It will be interesting to see how LG will grab a large number of users towards itself with these high-end specifications. The external storage can be expanded by means of SD card. SamsungGalaxy Note 8 will have Exynos 8895 SoC for its global devices but in the US, it will run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 835.
In other news, trusted KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi-Kuo suggested in his recent research note that the next-generation S-series offering will not have the under-display fingerprint sensor. The phone features one regular 12MP camera and another telephoto lens which helps get a better zoom. The smartphone manufacturer was audacious enough to take the plunge to remove the finger print sensor from the front and extend the display on the sides. At least, it seems that it will be available with this amount of storage in Korea.
If anything, though, expect smartphone screens to continue to increase in size without the size of the smartphone growing to tablet-sized slates. This should be more than enough for the average smartphone user. We feel it's a bit odd that the wallpapers aren't the 2960 x 1440 resolution of the Galaxy Note 8's display but leave it open to the possibility that Samsung is doing something a little different.
