North Korea ups rhetoric following President Trump's threat of 'fire and fury'

"I know we woke up to media reports of North Korea's talk of revenge on the United States and this so-called new-found technology that allows them to target Guam", Governor Eddie Baza Calvo said.

"For now, we advise the community to remain calm, remember that there are defenses in place for threats such as North Korea and to continue to remain prepared for all hazards".

The last time North Korea conducted a nuclear test, the estimated yield was roughly twice that of the bomb the USA dropped on Hiroshima in 1945.

How far can a North Korean missile travel?

"The IC [intelligence community] assesses North Korea has produced nuclear weapons for ballistic missile delivery, to include delivery by ICBM-class missiles", the assessment states. "The United States must quickly engage North Korea in a high-level dialogue without any preconditions".

Tyrant Kim Jong-un is "carefully considering" a plan to strike the U.S. territory in a deadly nuke attack - and Hawaii could follow.

North Korea and the United States are exchanging threats, with US President Donald Trump threatening Pyongyang "with fire and fury like the world has never seen" and the North's military claiming Wednesday it was examining plans to attack Guam.

Guam is a small USA territory in the South Pacific with significant strategic value.

The U.S. has conducted several missile-interception tests off the coast of California in recent weeks.

The UN Security Council unanimously imposed new sanctions on North Korea on Saturday over its continued missile tests that could slash the reclusive country's $3 billion annual export revenue by a third.
