KRBC AM Forecast: Monday, August 7, 2017

Severe weather and flash flooding is not expected in the Kansas City area, according to the weather service. Some of our computer models show a disturbance that could bring scattered showers and thunderstorms. In fact, we'll watch the skies gradually clear over us - making for plenty of afternoon sunshine. Highs will be at or below our seasonal average of 91.

Highs on Saturday will be in the upper 70s with 80 possible on Sunday. While we do have some raindrops to talk about, the weekend will not be a total washout.

There's poor consensus amongst the forecast models with regard to Saturday's temperatures.

Friday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 p.m., the weather service said. Storms could dump 1 to 2 inches of rain in a short period of time in spots that see the heaviest which will be in a few localized spots.

Today: Mix of Sun and Clouds.

For Thursday, expect increasingly cloudy skies, with a high near 83. Low: 73. High: 96.

SOLAR ECLIPSE WEATHER: It is still too early to provide an accurate forecast for the eclipse on August 21.

The weekend looks like a split decision.

A flood watch has been issued Friday until 7 a.m. for most of the state, including central, southern, northern, western and eastern parts of Oklahoma. Scattered storms in the afternoon. It's looking rather wet Tuesday and Wednesday.

Friday: Patchy smoke. Mostly sunny, with a high near 87.

Now, keep in mind, periodic rain means there will be some breaks in the rainfall action. After that, two fantastic days queue up.

We'll have a better idea by then, so tune in on Monday for an update. Nighs in the low to mid 80s.

You're already in the right place for the latest weather information across Northeast Kansas. It's also available (for free) on your local mobile marketplace - Android, iPhone, etc. The Global Forecast System doesn't look very encouraging, but this could easily change.
