Confirmed: Senate Too Gridlocked to Move Forward With Obamacare Reform

President Donald Trump speaks about healthcare in the Blue Room of the White House in Washington. Trump tweeted Saturday July 29 about his disappointments particularly with China and its lack of action on the

The Senate has one vote scheduled when it reconvenes Monday afternoon: whether to confirm a USA circuit court judge.

No Democrats voted for the GOP bill. Instead, they get the regular employer contribution they did before, much in the same way other workers do when their companies buy insurance. In conversations since the start of the repeal debate, they've come to agree with him. They'll say, "Hey, reform sounds like a great idea".

As a practical matter, when large numbers of citizens aren't willing to accept such outcomes, we're no longer part of the same democracy. "We told you we'd get it done, and we did'". Sounds more like play-by-play coverage of a chess tournament on ESPN. I mean, if the President really cares about we the people he can surely explain the attributes and deficiencies of repeal alone, skinny repeal, gluten-free repeal, etc.

Donald Trump may have failed to pass a bill to replace Obamacare in the United States, but he is not giving up so easily.

"He's going to make that decision this week, and that's a decision that only he can make", White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said on "Fox News Sunday". Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold it right there. It was never clear how any legislation that merged the skinny repeal with the more conservative bill the House passed could satisfy Senator Bill Cassidy's "Jimmy Kimmel test", guaranteeing unlimited medical care for any sick child, but Cassidy was a yes as well. Trump tweeted on Sunday. Unfortunately, that's about as close to a detailed explanation of the plan as we would ever get from Trump. Trump could cut off the monthly payments for this year's plans as soon as September.

This exemption was created when Trump's predecessor directed the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to classify Congress as a small business, and unknown congressional staffers submitted a fraudulent application to the D.C. Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) exchange claiming that the House and Senate employ only 45 people each.

Democrats who endured previous efforts to expand health insurance had rarely considered a reconciliation strategy. Until the changes listed above were implemented, that plan was working almost as planned. According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released Saturday, 64 percent of 1,136 people surveyed Friday and Saturday said they wanted to keep Obamacare, either "entirely as is" or after fixing "problem areas".

Those stark realities don't give me cause to celebrate, and it's a wonder how any Senate Democrat could champion their constituents' suffering. She said the first issue the Senate should focus on would be to stabilize the insurance markets. "You promised folks you would do this for seven years".

Miller said the five insurance companies selling subsidized insurance in Pennsylvania requested an 8.8 percent rate increase next year. Bill Clinton beat his Republican opponent by 6%, received 370 electoral votes, had 57 Democrats in the Senate and an 82 seat House margin.

She said failure of the Senate to do nothing occurred at a critical time for insurance companies that must finalize rates for next year by August 16. "That's the one that's death".

Trump seems content to let the current system collapse.

An extensive new analytical report examines the surge in personal CEO earnings at the top 70 US health care companies after the Affordable Care Act went into effect. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has already targeted House Republicans who voted for it in committee but didn't vote for final passage.

President Trump has stated that he will sign into law whatever healthcare bill the Republicans dump on his desk. Do we count amendments to other bills?

And why will he do this? More importantly, given that McConnell couldn't get to 50 votes on a quick-and-dirty repeal effort, it's hard to believe that he could have gotten more votes if he had been able to include even more controversial provisions, like defunding Planned Parenthood, in the process.
