Anthony Scaramucci Out as Trump's Communications Director After Only 10 Days
03 Agosto 2017, 11:37 | Fidele Alvizo
With ousting of Scaramucci, White House seeks 'clean slate.' Too late for that.
Scaramucci's sack was made by Trump's new chief of staff, John Kelly, who was sworn in on Monday.
The Post, citing multiple people with knowledge of the situation, said the original plan in response to the Times' reporting was to issue a truthful statement ahead of the story, but then Trump personally decided to have the statement say Trump Jr. had met with the lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, to discuss adoption of Russian children by people in the US. But, in a turbulent day, Gen. John Kelly was in as Chief of Staff, and Anthony Scaramuccci was out as communications director.
Wednesday, CNN obtained an internal memo that detailed his other goals, which included things like trying to improve press relations and create more content from within the White House. One of Scaramucci's first - and it turns out only - acts was to force out a communications aide seen as loyal to Priebus.
So a staff shake-up of the sort that Trump tweeted out Friday afternoon is the ordinary solution to a White House in trouble - but this is no ordinary White House problem.
Scaramucci was asked to step down right after Kelly's swearing-in ceremony. Would Trump allow Kelly to impose some discipline and get the West Wing focused on policy and governance, or would Scaramucci's personal access undermine Kelly's authority?
"Things will run with regular order", the official said, adding that even the president's daughter and her husband, who both have senior roles at the White House, are "not above the law". Congress approved the sanctions to punish the Russian government over interference in the 2016 presidential election, annexation of Ukraine's Crimea and other perceived violations of international norms. Ironically, Spicer is still working at the White House, because he offered to stay on until Aug. 15 to smooth the transition.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders, White House Press Secretary, released a statement after Scaramucci's dismissal. And then Scaramuccicalled Ryan Lizza, a reporter at The New Yorker.
Democrats quickly pounced on the Scaramucci news with California Rep. Adam Schiff tweeting: "Thank you Anthony @Scaramucci for your service".
This also seems to be the defense Trump plans to use, as a source told The Post: He doesn't feel as though he has done anything wrong, and therefore he assumes he hasn't.
"When you see these thugs being thrown into the back of a paddy wagon". Walsh left for the pro-Trump non-profit America First Policies and Shaub joined the nonprofit advocacy group Campaign Legal Center.
Anticipating a role in the incoming administration of then president-elect Donald Trump, Scaramucci moves to avoid any potential conflict of interest by selling his stake in his global investment firm, SkyBridge Capital. Trump has been critical of China, North Korea's closest ally, saying it should do more to rein in Pyongyang.
Regardless, he was buzzing after his opening press conference in which he heaped praise upon Trump, he said. Scaramucci contacted Lizza after it was reported he was at dinner with Fox News host Sean Hannity and Bill Shine, a former executive also for Fox News. "In private business, Donald Trump would often defer to his managers if they are capable and competent", Ruddy said.
