Trump swears in new chief of staff, says no White House 'chaos'

President Donald Trump just made some adjustments to his cabinet, by replacing the White House chief of staff Reince Priebus with the recently appointed Secretary of Homeland Security John F. Kelly.

After months of speculation about Mr. Priebus' fate, Mr. Trump tweeted his decision as he landed in Washington after a speech in NY in which he lavishly praised Kelly's performance at Homeland Security.

Mr Scaramucci's colourful turn of phrase appears to have been accusing Mr Priebus of obstructing his success in Mr Trump's White House administration. One political insider said when word got around on July 21 that he had been picked for the White House job, the joke in New York City was: Give him three months before he publicly explodes.

John Podesta, President Bill Clinton's last chief of staff, said Sunday on ABC's "This Week" that dealing with national security is "a very different matter than someone who has to navigate all the crosscurrents of dealing with domestic politics, dealing with Capitol Hill and dealing with a president who just can't throw his phone away and stop tweeting".

The Trump White House is in a perpetual state of discord. "I'm always gonna be a Trump fan".

The president promises his team is "going to work hard" and fulfill that famous campaign promise to "make America great again".

Kelly, a retired general and previous Homeland Security secretary, was sworn into his new job Monday morning. "He has been a true star of my Administration", Trump said.

"That's a personnel question that only the president can answer", she said, later adding, "I won't comment on that but I will tell you that the president has expressed frustration about the recusal, so much has flowed from that recusal, and so much of President Trump's agenda flows from the Department of Justice".

"Where I grew up... we are "front stabbers". While Sessions was practicing Spanish for "I have nothing against tattoos, but seriously?", Trump was making a play in OH for tighter immigration by focusing on the gang's murderous record.

In the interview, Scaramucci accused Priebus of being behind a financial document leak, and also called him a "schizophrenic".

"Jared and Ivanka are very supportive of him (Kelly) coming in and have a tremendous amount of admiration for him and will follow his lead on how he wants things done", a source told CNN on Sunday. A Pentagon spokesman told reporters to ask the White House for details; White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters to ask the Pentagon.

The move was the latest in White House staff shakeups. He has lobbed Twitter insults at Attorney General Jeff Sessions recently though Sessions is still in place.

He then directly referenced Priebus and said, "We have had odds".

That was Scaramucci signalling to the President, 'I have your back.

The president coupled the removal of Priebus with a public blast against Senate Republicans, including Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, over their failure last week to enact any version of a repeal of the Obama administration's Affordable Care Act.

Please Wait while comments are loading. It is widely reported that Trump family members played a key role in the firing of Priebus, with son-in-law Jared Kushner, daughter Ivanka Trump and First Lady Melania Trump all weighing in.
