Republican Health Care Bill Vote Delayed, Again

Republican Health Care Bill Vote Delayed, Again

This means that the vote on the healthcare bill could be even further delayed, as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has said that the Senate will not vote on the bill until McCain is back.

While this exemption was included in the Senate health care bill out of procedural necessity, we must still be diligent in ensuring that Members of Congress are treated just like other Americans under this law.

On the other hand, no senator has come out as the key third "no" vote that would doom the bill and, according to Axios' Jonathan Swan, The White House and McConnell view each day without another public defector as a "victory".

Meanwhile, two Republican senators - Susan Collins of ME and Rand Paul of Kentucky - have already said they will not support a motion to proceed to floor debate on the legislation. "And so at the end of the day, I don't know whether it will pass", said moderate Sen.

Critics say the measure would encourage healthy people to buy the skimpy, low-priced plans, leaving sicker consumers who need more comprehensive coverage confronting unaffordable costs. In the 52-48 Senate between Republicans and Democrats, McConnell may lose more than two votes and still prevail.

Mr McCain's absence cast doubt on whether the Senate would be able to pass legislation to dismantle and replace the Affordable Care Act, Democratic former President Barack Obama's signature legislative achievement, commonly known as Obamacare. John McCain (R-Arizona) in the Senate in the coming week due to an eye surgery would yet again defer the Republican Party's plan to overhaul the nation's health care system. Susan Collins of ME and Rand Paul of Kentucky.

The fate of the GOP's health reform plan right now hinges on Sen. Paul, who has criticized the bill for not being conservative enough, has also said he will vote against the bill. It will take health insurance away from 23 million people, make health insurance unaffordable for elderly people, and increase the cost of hospital care.

The latest version tries to attract conservative support by allowing insurers to offer tougher plans [VIDEO] along with stronger ones but also achieves a modest addition of billions to support the opium crisis and cover high consumer costs.

"The Senator is resting comfortably at home and is in good condition".

The tissue that was removed is undergoing analysis, and McCain's office says results should be available within the next several days.

McCain is a three-time survivor of melanoma.

Rand Paul placed an op-ed in the Washington Examiner today and went on a number of Sunday talk shows to express his outrage at the bill.
