President Donald Trump Still Calling Russian Story "Hoax"

Congressional Democrats voted Thursday to seek to revoke the security clearance of President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner over his meeting with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya in June a year ago - which Kushner only recently disclosed. The question is, why, would the Russians need someone like Jared Kushner?

Kushner had originally submitted his form, known as an SF-86, on January 18 and disclosed no meetings with foreign government officials during the presidential campaign and transition.

One set of conservative elected officials and influential media figures wants to find a way to start withdrawing support from Trump, worrying that the drumbeat of revelations about his team's contacts with Russian Federation could derail their policy agenda.

The security clearance disclosure forms Gorelick helped Kushner prepare have had to be amended in order to add information that was originally omitted, including information on his meetings with Russian nationals during the Trump campaign and transition. For a security clearance to mean anything, you can't go handing them out willy-nilly.

Asked whether the president would use his "Made in America" week to commit the Trump organization and his daughter's brand to make more of their products in America, rather than overseas, Ferre was non-committal. "Everything is on the table", a White House official said.

Pelosi said recent reports that President Donald Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr. met with a Russian lawyer past year and email communication between the younger Trump about the meeting, raised serious questions about the administration's ties to Moscow.

A political brawl is brewing in Washington that doesn't involve Republicans fighting Democrats or liberals battling conservatives. Now one former ethics lawyer says the United States might as well give Putin security clearance if Kushner gets to keep his.

The White House did not immediately respond to a CNN request for clarification about Spicer's remark.

The investigations into Russia's meddling in the 2016 election and whether any members of the Trump campaign worked with Russian officials to hurt Clinton have hung over the White House for months and have proved to be a constant irritant to the president.

However, Matt Lira, Trump's special assistant for innovation policy and initiatives, told The Journal that it was his idea, not Kushner's, to invite OpenGov to the event. "As the son-in-law to the President, no one is going to revoke that clearance unless it is with the acquiescence of the President, so functionally it is the President who can make the decision", said Flanigan.
