GOP has no idea which health care bill they're voting on

GOP health bill still a mystery before planned vote

That legislation would leave 32 million more people without coverage by 2026 and cause premiums to almost double, compared to current law, the CBO found.

The Republicans' latest attempt to fulfill their years-long pledge would effectively repeal Obamacare in 2020, giving lawmakers until then to come up with a replacement plan.

Monday night, after the GOP-backed health care bill failed to gain enough support in the Senate, Trump advocated for repealing Obamacare and not replacing it.

McConnell has said he intends to hold a procedural vote soon on a 2015 Bill that would repeal Obamacare but delay its replacement.

A vote to repeal Obamacare, rather than repeal and replace as President Trump and Republicans promised, could occur next week.

After first saying this week that the ACA should be allowed to fall apart, President Donald Trump urged GOP senators Wednesday to revive their efforts to reach consensus on a plan that would both repeal and replace portions of the ACA.

But that proposal already appears to be dead - with three senators voicing their opposition to it - even though Mr McConnell appears to still be moving forward with his latest plan.

Should the repeal take effect, the CBO predicts, insurers will leave the Obamacare individual marketplace in droves.

Such a plan would be similar to the cost-sharing reductions that are now in Obamacare, and that lower out-of-pocket costs for people making between 100 percent and 250 percent of the poverty level.

Republican Senators Susan Collins of Maine, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska have said they would vote against a motion to proceed on such a measure.

Congress has spent months this year on health care.

We asked professor Timothy Hoff, an expert in healthcare systems and health policy, to examine the current healthcare landscape and assess the health of "Obamacare"-where it's working, and if it could fail".

"There are many aspects of the Affordable Care Act that are starting to work well".

The parade of revisions and different versions can get confusing, but Senate leaders have said they still plan to push for a vote next week. And if Congress ever does repeal the Affordable Care Act, they'd get equal or better coverage under the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, provided they keep their high-paying jobs - an open question, because elections are coming. So far the White House has continued to pay those subsidies, but the discussion of ending them has increased uncertainty among insurers who offer plans through the Obamacare market.
