Frontier Airlines announces new nonstop flights out of Austin Bergstrom International Airport

Customers were able Tuesday to begin making reservations for Frontier's new direct flights to New Orleans, Phoenix, Raleigh-Durham and the LA/Ontario International Airport in Los Angeles' eastern suburbs.

But it will only offer one destination - Denver.

The discount carrier will restart service to Denver in the spring.

Frontier's Senior Director of Schedule Planning Robert Westgate was in the airport terminal to announce the new local flights.

Last year, Frontier carried 35,091 travelers to and from the Broward County airport. It's unknown if the new flights are related to the announcement.

Frontier is also offering a bundle that starts at $59 each way that includes a carry-on bag, a checked bag, the best available seat, waived change fees and refunds, all for one low price. In March, the airport landed a nonstop flight to Salt Lake City on Delta. Worldwide destinations like Dublin, Amsterdam and Manchester, England, are also on that list. Of the 21 cities it is adding to its network, 16 are airports that it once served but then stopped.

KC to Cancun and Tampa routes will run on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

In the first half of the year, RNO passenger traffic is up 10 percent over 2016.

United Airlines now offers nonstop service from Little Rock to Denver.

- Seasonal three-day-a-week service to San Francisco will be suspended October 31, and daily service, also seasonal, to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport and Washington, D.C.'s Dulles International Airport will be suspended November 1.

"We're now seeing record breaking numbers and we're at a point where we can deliver new capacity and allow for new growth", he said.
