The Spaniard went into Wimbledon ranked 15th in the world and her victory at the All England Club will push her up to fifth in the WTA Rankings when they are published on Monday.
Add in the fact he has been almost unstoppable this season, winning four of the six events he had entered - including an 18th Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in January - many pundits and rivals believe Federer is playing some of his best tennis this year.
"Digesting success is difficult". The ranking is temporary but it is really to be a good player and always have a chance to win a trophy.
"I gave my best and that's all I could do".
Tennis player, Tomas Berdych wore the trainers with a picture of Novak Djokovic's face located on the tongue.
But standing in his way in the final will be Marin Cilic, the seventh seed. He doesn't fight power with power unless he's trapped into it; typically he'll defuse power in a way that leaves the power broker off-kilter and lacking a way to mete out his preferred form of punishment.
"It feels like a dream come true", added Muguruza.
Speaking to Sue Barker after receiving his trophy, he said: "Holding the trophy now, after not dropping a set in the tournament, it's magical really". His string of quick victories in the playoffs has been phenomenal.
