Ex-FBI Agent: Kushner in More Legal Hot Water Than Trump Jr

19 Julio 2017, 04:24 | Bibiana Flor

A Russian-American lawyer who attended the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting with key members of Donald Trump's inner circle, including Donald Trump Jr. and Jared Kushner, was once at the center of a United States government investigation into Russian money laundering. But the emails have led to more speculation amid ongoing federal investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 election and what, if any, ties the Trump campaign may have had to the Russian effort.

"He wasn't able to convince the court with his lousy human tragedy that actually never happened, about the fate of a dead man - who he only learnt about after his death." . Why is he involved? You're not alone. Here's a breakdown of what we think we know about the continuing Russian Federation scandal - or, at least at this moment. Over $800 million in foreign cash passed through 136 accounts Kaveladze opened for Russian clients, according to a report GAO produced on its investigation. His most recent US address appears to be in Huntington Beach, California, although several websites he maintains say he is based in Moscow.

The Washington Post reported Tuesday that Kaveladze is the latest person confirmed to be at the June 2016 meeting that has become a spiraling scandal for the Trump administration.

But Trump's newly-disclosed conversation with Putin at the G-20 dinner is likely to stoke further criticism, including perhaps from some fellow Republicans in Congress, that he is too cozy with the leader of a major USA adversary.

Why was he at the meeting?

Thanks to the email chain, we know that Goldstone offered to share the "ultra sensitive" information with the senior Trump through his aide Rhona Graff. Balber says Kaveladze is willing to speak about the meeting to the special prosecutor probing Russian campaign meddling. "He literally had no idea what the meeting was about until he showed up right before".

Donald Trump Jr. and his wife Vanessa Trump wait for the start of the third USA presidential debate at the Thomas & Mack Center on October 19, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The sit-down was arranged by music publicist Rob Goldstone, who represents Emin Agalarov, the pop singer son of Russian construction magnate Aras Agalarov. Mr Trump owned the pageant.

Trump and Putin's relationship has been under scrutiny since the election campaign, when Trump repeatedly praised Putin as a strong leader and publicly encouraged him to hack then-rival Hillary Clinton's emails.

The Judiciary panel has been working with Mueller to ensure there aren't any conflicts between its investigation into Russian meddling in the US election and the Department of Justice's own investigation. Instead, the answers will come from Mueller - and they may determine which Trump aides, if any, are indicted.
