Bike problem almost derails Froome on Stage 15

If fans had any doubts about just how gruelling and demanding the Tour de France is for the riders, this photo proves the point in very alarming fashion. After seeing the 26-year-old reduce rival Marcel Kittel's sprint classification lead by almost 100 points in just three stages, McEwen can be confident that the future of Australian sprinting is in good hands.
Chris Froome retained the overall lead in a finale baulked by crosswinds that resulted in contenders Daniel Martin and Alberto Contador losing time.
Matthews' Sunweb team realised Kittel was in trouble and they put the hammer down.
On long and flat sections vulnerable to wind, Froome's Sky team rode at the front, making sure their leader would not miss out on possible splits.
At the finish, the damage was clear.
Matthews also claimed another 50 points in the sprinters' green jersey competition to close to 29 points behind Quick-Step's Marcel Kittel, who has won five stages.
The victor of the last Tour of Flanders, the Belgian Philippe Gilbert, ill (gastro-enteritis), did not start the race. "I really thought that that could be the yellow jersey changing shoulders again".
"For me it's totally not a revelation, because I can see this view - maybe not everyday - but still often, especially after a hard race at high temperature", Huzarski said on his Facebook page.
Safely in the front group were the three riders occupying the podium positions this morning - overall leader Froome, Astana's Fabio Aru and Romain Bardet of AG2R-La Mondiale.

Martin's losses saw Bury's Simon Yates move up to sixth in the best young riders' white jersey, one second ahead of Martin.
"I'm just happy to get through today's stage", said Froome, adding he was looking forward to the race reaching the Alps.

The assaults continued as the race entered the flat, with attack after attack eventually resulting in Martin surging clear. The end of the stage is a consistent climb, hills that should test the already weary legs fresh off the imposing Pyrenees.
